SIGNAL COVERAGE

Eight sources in. Seventeen kinds of move out.

Coverage is not a promise to read everything. It is a fixed, published list: the eight public source categories collected on a schedule, and the seventeen event types a verified signal can be filed under. If a move is not one of those types, it does not become a signal — there is no “miscellaneous” drawer that quietly absorbs the rest.

The taxonomy is closed on purpose. A fixed set of types is what makes a two-year-old record searchable, comparable across competitors, and useful to an API rather than a wall of prose. It is also what makes this page possible: coverage you can audit before you buy, including the parts we do not cover.

Classification is the third gate: every surviving candidate is assigned exactly one of these, or it is dropped. The colour is a data encoding for the family, the same one the feed uses — it is not brand paint.

Other Notable

The catch-all, and the hardest type to earn. A signal routed here ships only if it clears a materiality bar the named types are not held to.

ANY SOURCE · MATERIALITY BAR

other_notable

The catch-all is deliberately the hardest type to earn. A signal routed to Other Notable ships only if it clears a materiality bar the named types are not held to — what dies at that gate.

Which source catches which move

Most moves show up in more than one place, and the order matters: a price change appears on the pricing page before it appears in press. Filled means this is where the family usually originates. A ring means it corroborates but rarely breaks it.

Three tempos, not one crawl

COLLECTION SCHEDULE

Sources move at different speeds, so they are read at different speeds. A pricing page is worth a daily snapshot because the change is silent; a headcount band is not worth more than a weekly read.

CONTINUOUS

Sources that break news are read as they publish, then deduplicated so one event stays one event.

  • News and press
  • Social and executive communications
  • Financial filings and M&A activity

DAILY

Sources where the change is silent get a snapshot every day, diffed against the last one so an unannounced edit becomes an event.

  • Website and pricing pages
  • Changelogs and release notes
  • Careers and hiring signals
  • Review platforms

WEEKLY

Slow-moving facts are read weekly. Reading them faster would produce noise, not earlier knowledge.

  • LinkedIn company intelligence
  • Headcount bands and office locations
  • Comparative gap matrices

Collection tempo is the same on every plan. What differs by plan is how many competitors you track, how often signals are delivered to you, and how far back your history goes — never the quality of what is collected.

Wide coverage, one line each

Broad collection is only an asset if it collapses. One funding round is covered by nine outlets, a press release, an executive post and a filing — and it is one event. Candidates are clustered before classification, so the count you see is the number of moves, not the number of articles.

The cluster keeps its members. Every source that reported the move stays attached to the signal, so corroboration is visible without being a second notification. This is the difference between a fire hose and a briefing.

Where covered signals land

Coverage that only exists inside a dashboard is coverage you will forget to check. Every verified signal is pushed to the places you already work, and every one of them carries the source it was verified against.

The same record is queryable over the REST API and a hosted MCP server, filtered by competitor and by any of the seventeen types.

SLACK

Every day, automatic or on demand with /vaarta. Three lines and why it matters, in the channel where the decision gets made.

EMAIL

A daily digest, plus a weekly briefing every Monday at 7am for the people who want the week in one read.

REST API

Query signals by competitor and by type, with the source URL and the verification state on every record.

WEBHOOKS

Signed payloads pushed as signals are verified, so your own systems can react without polling.

MCP

A hosted MCP server, so an assistant can read the same verified record and trace a claim back to its evidence.

What coverage does not include

The honest edge of the record. These are not roadmap items — most of them are things we have decided not to collect, and the rest are things that were never published.

Private company financials

Revenue, burn, churn and margin are not public for a private company, so they are not in the record and we do not model them. A funding amount from a filing is a fact; a revenue estimate is a guess with a number attached.

Work that was never announced

Private betas, unreleased builds and internal roadmaps do not appear in a changelog. Hiring and entity registrations often shadow them weeks early, which is the closest honest read available.

Prices quoted only on a call

A “contact sales” wall is a real gap. If the number exists only in a deal, the pricing page cannot show it and neither can we — a rumour is not a pricing change.

Individual employees as a dataset

We read leadership changes, not rosters. No profile scraping, no contact enrichment, nothing about a person posting as a private individual.

THE LINES WE WILL NOT CROSS

Credentials, purchased personal data, confidential material, pretexting — the full list, written to be held against us in a security review, is on the trust and data sourcing page.

Track one competitor free, no card required. Coverage is identical on every plan.
